The Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers: Which original cast members are back?
By Dan Girolamo
As Lester Averman once said, “The quack attack is back, Jack.” Everyone’s favorite hockey team is back in The Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers, which is now available to stream on Disney Plus.
In The Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers, the Ducks are not the scrappy underdogs that we fell in love with in the 90s. In fact, the Ducks are an ultra-competitive powerhouse junior hockey team. The Ducks used to pride themselves on having fun and playing the game for the right reasons. It seems as if the Ducks have lost their way.
When Evan Marrow (Brady Noon) is cut from the Ducks, his mother, Alex Marrow (Lauren Graham), decides to start her own team. Unfortunately, all of the good players play for the Ducks so she’s left with the outcasts and weaker players, which mirrors the first team from The Mighty Ducks. Who does Alex enlist to help this group of underdogs? There’s only one man for the job and that’s the Minnesota Miracle Man, Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez).
Unfortunately, Bombay is not the inspirational and well-respected coach from the trilogy. Bombay operates a run-down ice rink and to the surprise of everyone, hates hockey. The trailer teases an uphill battle for both the new team and Bombay, but in true Duck fashion, a comeback to prominence seems likely.
Which original members will return in Mighty Ducks
Esteves is the only member of the original cast to reprise his role for the entire series. However, there are cast members from the original trilogy that will return for one episode. According to Entertainment Weekly, six members from the original cast will return in Episode 6.
The six original characters are Fulton (Elden Henson), Connie (Marguerite Moreau), Guy (Garret Henson), Kenny Wu (Justin Wong), Averman (Matt Doherty), and Adam Banks (Vinny La Russo). Charlie Conway (Joshua Jackson) and Russ Tyler (Keenan Thompson) are noticeably absent, but Esteves hopes to bring back more Ducks in the future if the series is renewed.
The Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers will stream a new episode every Friday on Disney Plus starting March 26.
