Walker season 1, episode 9 spoilers: Who killed Emily?

Walker Episode 9 wasted zero time getting into the central mystery of the season as the case of Emily’s murder heats up. Now that we know Carlos Mendoza is officially innocent and Cordell is in the loop, he immediately sets out to hunt for the killer.

Cordell and James hone in on the leader of the Northside Nation (the same group that harassed Stella, Augie, and the kids at the soccer game), Oswald, with the help of Geri, who returns to town this week after being away. It doesn’t take long for Cordell to question her and realize that Geri had nothing to do with Emily’s death, she just got in over her head with a loan.

So, Cordell, James, and Geri come up with a plan for Geri to enter a high-stakes poker game where Oswald is playing. He keeps talking bout how she can’t sell her bar to the ranger and Cordell pushes her to find out why.

But Geri pushes a little too hard and Oswald realizes she’s wearing a wire. He takes her hostage, forcing Cordell and James to intervene. Luckily, their backup gets there in time and Oswald is apprehended.

Yet, when you start thinking Oswald is Emily’s real murderer, we find out that his alibi checks out. However, the same can’t be said for his accomplice, Cali.

Walker Episode 9: Cordell comes face-to-face with Emily’s murderer

Cali pretends that she’s willing to help James and Cordell find Emily’s killer if they provide her protection against Oswald. She says she just needs to go back inside the warehouse and get her phone.

Except for the moment Emily goes into the warehouse, that’s when James gets the call about Oswald’s alibi. Cali tricked them! What follows is a tense cat-and-mouse game through the dark building as Cordell and James try to corner Cali.

Finally, Cordell comes face-to-face with her and she admits to killing Emily. It was basically an instance of Emily being in the wrong place at the wrong time, seeing Cali’s illegal dealings go down with her phone in hand. And Cali has zero remorse.

Cordell obviously wants to pull the trigger and kill her, but James talks him down. They should apprehend her instead. Yet just when they’re about to, Cali gives them the slip and tries to shoot Cordell and an unseen person fires their gun, killing Cali. Both Cordell and James are shocked to see Geri holding a gun. She needed to know the truth about Emily too, so she hung around and fired when she saw Cali lunge.

And now it looks like this chapter is over!  Is that really it for Emily’s murder investigation? Is it truly all over? I think it is since Cordell sees Emily’s ghost appear again at the end while enjoying dinner with his family. It feels like he’s finally saying goodbye and moving forward.

Also, it looks like Liam is seriously considering a run for governor!

Walker Episode 9: Geri and Cordell kiss

Yep, you read that right! It looks like Geri and Cordell are officially becoming a thing as they share a kiss in the super emotional final moments of the episode.
