The FXX comedy series Dave is literally nothing but a hilarious journey of how an upcoming rapper tries to make a name for himself, and fans of the show definitely agree that this one is definitely a great series to watch.

With the first season of the series receiving great reviews, receiving a critic score of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes and 91% of an audience score, it was a given that the show would return for a second season, officially securing season 2 in May 2020.

Great news! The second season is coming much sooner than you think! As confirmed by Entertainment Weekly on April 19, 2021, Dave season 2 is hitting FXX on June 16, 2021. All new episodes will be available to stream on Hulu the day after they premiere on TV.

Distractify previously interviewed David Burd (a.k.a. Lil Dicky), the rapper who co-created the show and who the story is based on. Of course, he was asked about when we can expect the Dave season 2 to debut. Lil Dicky shared that the upcoming season finished filming on March 30, 2021, and shared the news via the tweet above on April 2, 2021.

Dave season 2 cast

In terms of veterans, we can expect that the series’ regulars should be returning for the sophomore season.

The original cast includes Lil Dicky as Dave, actress Taylor Misiak as Dave’s girlfriend Ally, GaTa as himself, actor Andrew Santino as Mike, actor Travis “Taco” Bennett who plays Elz, and Christine Ko as Emma, Ally’s roommate. In terms of some fresh faces, actress Megan Holder is joining the cast, and we wonder if we’ll see any more new faces. Chances are with a comedy like this, we will.

Dave is also known for the star-studded guests who appear alongside these actors. Celebrities who made an appearance range from Justin Bieber, Young Thug, and Macklemore to Kourtney Kardashian, Ninja, and Marshmello.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Dave season 2 is set to feature the likes of Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, and a handful of other notable celebrities. We cannot wait to see them featured on the show!

Dave season 2 synopsis

Being loosely based on Lil Dicky’s rap career, the first season of the series left us off with Dave having an interview with The Breakfast Club, a notorious radio show hosted by Charlamagne tha God. The Breakfast Club is a place where up-and-coming rappers spread their name and depending on how well someone does, that could make or break that person’s career.

At the end of season 1, we find the aspiring rapper just finishing his interview and getting Charlamagne’s approval, but we don’t really know what that interview means for his career, as the season finishes off here.

Most likely, season 2 will pick up from this point and let us know what the actually means for Dave.
