Outer Banks was a massive hit for Netflix in 2020. The drama about four teenagers in search of a golden treasure was a staple in Netflix’s Top 10 during its initial run. It’s no surprise that Outer Banks Season 2 is on the way.

After a successful premiere in April 2020, the show was officially renewed for a second season in July 2020. Production started towards the end of August.

At the end of the first season, John B and Sarah were picked up by passing cargo ship. The ship was headed towards the Bahamas, where Ward Cameron stashed the gold. Will the Pogues reclaim the gold that they found?

Here’s everything we know about Outer Banks Season 2.

Outer Banks Season 2 release date

Unfortunately, Outer Banks Season 2 does not have an official release date. However, production wrapped a few weeks ago. The series shot scenes in Charleston and Barbados. Like most shows, production took longer than expected due to the challenges and restrictions faced during the pandemic.

Don’t expect the series to premiere in its Season 1 release date, which took place in April. In fact, it may be a few months before the show hits Netflix. A safe bet would be a premier during summer 2021.

Update (May 14): Netflix has confirmed that Outer Banks Season 2 is coming in summer 2021, but hasn’t set the official date just yet.

Outer Banks Season 2 synopsis

No official synopsis has been released. Due to the cliffhangers at the end of Season 1, there are a few storylines that can be expected.

After Ward stole the gold and framed John B for murder of the Sheriff Peterkin, John B decided to flee from the authorities. Sarah joined John B on a boat as they drove into the storm, which caused the boat to capsize. John B and Sarah were pronounced dead, even though we know they’re still alive and heading towards the Bahamas.

Season 2 will start out with the Pogues on separate turf as Pope, JJ, and Kiara are in the Outer Banks. Remember that they think John B and Sarah are dead. How will they deal with the aftermath and more importantly, when will they find out that their friends are alive?
