Pose season 3 is almost upon us and with its upcoming return to air comes a bitter-sweetness. This will be the last time we’ll see the Houses of Evangelista and Wintour as well as the found family of the ball community within this series. The cast will be striking their final poses as the characters that audiences first fell in love with in 2018.

Set against the backdrop of New York City, Pose has taken viewers through the late ’80s into the early ’90s weaving a story about love, acceptance, and family.

Though it has never shied away from the reality of living and loving during the height of the AIDS pandemic, with a government that turned a blind eye to the plight and pain of its own citizens, the series has never wallowed in tragedy either.

Pose is a series that embraces the full and beautiful lives of its majority Black and brown queer and trans characters. There is a joy in its storytelling. A resilience. A perseverance. A celebration of the vibrant ballroom community it depicts and of the people who have found a home in its culture.

There has never been a show of its kind before. One that has seen the largest cast of trans talent in series regular roles on television. It’s our hope that it’ll be the first of many. As, with any community, there are more stories to tell, unending possibilities, and a desire for them to be told.

Pose season 3 synopsis

FX’s official synopsis for season 3 of Pose:

"In the final season of Pose, it’s now 1994 and ballroom feels like a distant memory for Blanca who struggles to balance being a mother with being a present partner to her new love, and her latest role as a nurse’s aide. Meanwhile, as AIDS becomes the leading cause of death for Americans ages 25 to 44, Pray Tell contends with unexpected health burdens. Elsewhere, the emergence of a vicious new upstart house forces the House of Evangelista members to contend with their legacy."
