Since finding out Iggy has an eating disorder, New Amsterdam has slowly incorporated it into the story. There is still much more to come, but there’s a chance that it will start to really build from this episode.

Iggy has a patient who wants gastric bypass surgery. It’s a radical surgery, but for this patient, she feels like it’s the only option. She’s fed up with being overweight with a mother who doesn’t seem to understand that she wants to lose weight.

This is going to be a triggering subject for some. If we know the New Amsterdam writers, they will handle it with care. It’s going to be interesting to see how Iggy connects to his patient and whether he’ll use any of his advice on himself.

Sharpe continues to tackle her niece on New Amsterdam Season 3, Episode 10

During the previous episode, Sharpe made it clear that she was no longer going to be her niece’s friend. She is going to be a parent, something she should have done from the beginning. However, her niece isn’t interested in another parent, believing that Sharpe abandoned the whole family until she needed to take her niece in.

This episode will see Sharpe put her foot down more. Is she doing more damage than help at this point?

As all this happens, Max has to face the dark past of New Amsterdam. It’s something he’s had to do for a few episodes this season, whether it’s been the dark past against gay men or the way Black people are systemically and institutionally treated differently. Now it looks like it’s going to be the past involving the Indigenous population, with the amazing Tantoo Cardinal guest-starring in the episode.
