Finally, the Carringtons have returned in Dynasty Season 4, just in time for the grand Falliam wedding. But in true Dynasty fashion, the affair won’t be without its speed bumps.

In a shocking episode opener no one could have seen coming, Dynasty Season 4 kicks off with an instant jaw-dropper of a flash-forward. We’ll save the spoiler-heavy bits for below the jump, but just know we’re gearing up for a wild ride of suspense.

Of course, all flash-forward things aside, Dynasty focuses on building toward the Falliam wedding of our dreams in the present, which comes at a price for the superstitious bride. Fallon worries the setbacks plaguing their big day, as well as their hot mess families, spell trouble for their marriage.

But as with any episode of Dynasty, there are winners and there are loses. The power struggles continue in Season 4, and it’s more heated than ever as the stakes are raised. Who comes out on top, and who might not even live to see Season 5? We’re breaking down the season premiere and taking a closer look at the potentially doomed Falliam nuptials.

Dynasty Season 4, Episode 1 power rankings

Warning: Beware of spoilers from Dynasty Season 4, Episode 1 beyond this point.

1. Alexis and Jeff

Well, well, well. How the tables have turned. Elaine Hendrix-era Alexis has really pulled herself up by her bootstraps and gotten to work. The fruits of her partnership with Jeff truly paid off in spades in the season premiere as the pair worked to force Blake to play the last card in his hand. Confusing personal relationship aside, Alexis and Jeff have all but successfully executed the business arrangement aspect of their relationship. Now, to maintain this power will be the real test.

2. Anders

Unfortunately absent from the pre-wedding festivities (he could have put out a few figurative fires), Anders continues his trek into Adam’s past. Adam catches onto Anders’s investigation, which takes him to the long-lost Carrington heir’s hometown of Billings, Montana. After Adam learns Anders spent two hours speaking to someone with inside knowledge of Adam’s sordid past,

Adam comes clean to Kirby about pushing Alexis into the fire, killing his adoptive mother, everything. Consider this a win for Anders for poking the bear.

3. Fallon and Liam

As always, it’s a close call for Fallon. If you’re a regular reader of our Dynasty power rankings, you’ll know we’re generous with our girl because, call us crazy, we believe in her. But against all odds, Fallon and Liam managed to keep their heads above water at their rehearsal dinner. As their wedding fell apart at the seams, their families imploded. That’s not hard when you get this group in the same room.

Blake and Cristal’s respective affairs were revealed, with both Liam’s banned mother and Father Collins in unexpected attendance. (They should have never given Laura another chance, but that’s going to be another conversation SURELY.) Through it all, Falliam stayed strong and united. And Liam saved every napkin from their dates! Powerful stuff, folks. #Falliam4ever

4. Dominique

If there’s one thing we have learned, it’s to never doubt Dominique. Even though House of Devereaux was canceled and she can’t quite seem to get her sleepwear line off the ground, she’s always got that plan B-Z in her back pocket.

When going to Blake, Fallon, and Jeff for an investment that didn’t work, she attempted to steal Fallon’s something old for quick cash. But Dominique wound up visiting her estranged mother and receiving the key to a safe deposit box from her father, Thomas Carrington. Dominique might have struck gold.

5. Whoever’s in that casket

Ready to dig in? In the opening sequence, a casket lowers into the ground as Fallon sits in the front row, alone, at the funeral. She looks on with a rather mournful expression, though it’s tough to really read what she’s feeling. Right now, that’s our only clue.

Executive producer Josh Reims hints to TVLine that we’ll see a new person at the funeral each week until the identity of the deceased comes to light in Episode 13. But let’s take guesses. Who’s in there? Laura? Evan? Adam? *gulp* Liam?

Honorable Mentions:

  • Sammy Jo and Scorpio (okay, fine, Ryan) sign off on their annulment and part ways… but not for long. Ryan shows back up at the La Mirage citing a canceled flight, which raises suspicions for Culhane. He gets into Sam’s head, but the once-scorned ex-Carrington covers his bases and checks on Ryan’s story. Do we trust Ryan, or are we with Culhane?
  • You’ll notice we mentioned Evan, Trixie’s brother, because he reappeared! He seems to be the one behind all of Fallon’s wedding setbacks, furthering his revenge on Trixie’s former bestie. They better tighten security for the ceremony. Also, the hair he stole from Fallon… Are we ever getting an explanation?
  • Blake and Cristal are an unmitigated disaster. How do you get back to basics after losing an unborn child, murdering an innocent man, lying to each other, and cheating on each other? Is there enough mutual history of dirty laundry to keep them together? It will certainly be interesting to see how the season handles bringing them back together.
  • We need to talk about Fallon screaming “Enough!” and throwing her champagne glass on the floor. You know Liz had the time of her life filming that scene. It’s in the top 5 of Fallon’s best breakdowns, without question. Iconic on arrival.
