Time flies when you’re having a weird mix of rage and fun. It might not seem like it, but there are only a few episodes left in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 2. That means there are a lot of loose ends to tie up—in very little time.
The biggest hanging thread, so far, is what should have been the main focus of the season: Zoey’s grief. We took a bizarre and annoying detour for a few weeks, but between a really strong eleventh episode and what happens in “Zoey’s Extraordinary Session,” we’re right back on track.

As the teaser for Episode 12 (above) points out, this is going to be an “emotional journey.” And honestly? It’s a frustrating one, too—not because it’s bad but because it’s that good and exactly what we’ve been (im)patiently awaiting all along.
When Zoey broke up with Max, it was supposedly because she was struggling so much with mourning her father. She needed to process all of her emotions and work through the pain of losing her dad. It made sense…until the entire concept was abandoned for manufactured drama reasons.
Thankfully, with the return of Peter Gallagher as Mitch Clarke—through flashbacks, not weird ghost stories, no worries!—comes the return of all of that special soul we loved about this series in the first place. Not that we’d ever want fewer heart songs or less Mo? But if this season had to be shorter in order to avoid the wasted time…We might not have complained. Much.
