Supergirl Season 6 is officially the last on The CW, but does that really mean it’s the end. Could Supergirl Season 7 happen elsewhere?

It doesn’t look like Supergirl Season 7 is going to happen. This is one of those shows that is ending rather than being canceled, and it looks like there was a long-term plan for this from the beginning.

With the arrival of Superman & Lois, the end of Supergirl has begun. Part of that will also be due to Melissa Benoist starting her family as she wants to spend more time as a mother. She may also want to move onto other things. Six years in one TV show is a long time considering the filming schedules they have.

That doesn’t stop us hoping for the show to continue some sort of format. Maybe a streaming network can pick it up, even if it’s in a couple of years.

Supergirl Season 7 premiere date

Without a seventh season confirmed, there is no premiere date yet. If it was to happen, it would take 12 to 18 months to film all episodes, especially for a streaming network. We’d be looking at 2022 at the very earliest, but don’t count on this season.

Supergirl Season 7 cast

There is only one way this show could work. This is with the cast we currently have, which means we need the following to return:

  • Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers/Supergirl
  • Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers / Sentinel
  • David Harewood as J’onn J’onzz / Martian Manhunter
  • Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor
  • Jesse Rath as Querl “Brainy” Dox / Brainiac 5

Of course, there are a few other characters we’d love to see turn up. Whether Jon Cryer would return as Lex Luthor is uncertain since we have no idea how things will end with the Season 6 finale.

Supergirl Season 7 trailer

With no seventh season just yet, there is no trailer available right now. We’ll be sure to bring it if it happens.

Supergirl Season 7 synopsis

Without knowing how Supergirl Season 6 is going to end, we don’t even know what storyline the seventh season could follow. That’s something to revisit when we get a feeling for the upcoming series finale.
