UPDATE 5/18/2021 8:00 p.m. ET: It was reported by Deadline after the time of this article that Evil season 2’s move to Paramount+ has been confirmed.

See original story below.

Evil season 2 is still in the process of being filmed which means fans of the series remain in a holding pattern when it comes to the show’s release.

Like most productions delayed by the COVID-19 crisis, the horror drama starring Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi has been off air for longer than anyone could have anticipated.

It’s not clear when the series will be making its return, however, Variety reports viewers are going to be in for a surprise when it comes time for the show’s release.

Evil is primed to be making the jump from CBS to their streaming arm, Paramount+, taking the series off of ViacomCBS’ TV schedule for the network.

Evil season 2 might premiere as a Paramount+ exclusive

In 2020, Netflix and ViacomCBS closed in on a deal that put season one of Evil on the streamer for a non-exclusive run. As is often the case, the show popped on the platform, bringing in strong numbers for the series and showcasing the show plays well to a streaming audience.

It’s most likely this deal paved the way for Evil to shift from a CBS series to an offering on Paramount+.

While the move has yet to be confirmed, multiple sources including Deadline are anticipating the series, along with SEAL Team and Clarice, will be enfolded into the Paramount+ roster.

It’s a move that may leave some fans cold as yet another fan-favorite show is put behind a paywall. However, the series could see a greater return on the streamer than it has as a network offering.

There’s still no word on when viewers can expect Evil season 2 to make its premiere. We’ll keep you posted on any release date news concerning the horror drama. Until then, check out the homemade trailer the cast and crew made for the show’s second season.
