Predicting the Outer Banks Season 2 release date

John B, Sarah Cameron, and the rest of the Pogues are returning to Netflix in Outer Banks Season 2. Now, it’s a matter of when, not if, the series will return to the streaming service.

Outer Banks was a smash hit for Netflix when it premiered in April 2020. The show was a staple in Netflix’s Top 10, spending 51 straight days on that list. Renewing the series for a second season was an easy decision.

After production on Season 2 wrapped in April 2021, many fans were happy to see that Netflix confirmed the second season would arrive this summer. The streamer also revealed exclusive images that showcase the Pogues, the Bahamas, and life in the OBX.

However, there is still no release date set for Outer Banks Season 2. In addition to the unknown release date, no footage in the form of a trailer has been released at this time. It’s only a matter of time before Netflix drops the Outer Banks Season 2 release date and its subsequent trailer.

Predicting Outer Banks Season 2 release date

June 9, 2021 UPDATE: Outer Banks season 2 arrives on Netflix on July 30, 2021!

Thanks to Netflix’s release schedule and show roll out, there are a few dates this summer that might serve as the premiere date. Using process of elimination, here are some predictions for when Outer Banks Season 2 might premiere.

It won’t be in June 2021

At the end of each month, Netflix announces its release schedule for shows and movies that will premiere the following month on the service. Outer Banks Season 2 was noticeably absent on the list for June so the show won’t premiere this month barring any surprise announcements.

Fourth of July weekend

Fourth of July is usually reserved for blockbusters at the movie theaters. However, Netflix has released big shows around the holiday in the past. Most noticeably, Stranger Things Season 3 debuted on July 4, 2019, which set viewing records for the service at the time. Since July 4 falls on a Sunday this year, July 2 would be the logical day to release the season.

Labor Day weekend

Sticking with the holiday theme, Labor Day weekend could serve as the release date. In 2018, Ozark, one of Netflix’s most popular shows, debuted on the Friday before Labor Day (August 31). Although Money Heist Part 5 premieres on the Friday before Labor Day, Outer Banks could premiere on Sept. 1, which is a Wednesday. It’s important to note that Outer Banks Season 1 debuted on a Wednesday as well.

August 6

This might be the day that makes the most sense. Netflix has a few big projects debuting throughout July such as Virgin River Season 3, the Fear Street trilogy, and The Last Mercenary. In August, high-profile movies such as He’s All That and Sweet Girl are set to hit launch in the second half of the month. As of now, August 6 appears to be open, which could be a great time to release one of the most popular shows on the service.
