American Horror Story spin-off: First American Horror Stories promo unveiled
By Toby Hankin
AHS fans, rejoice: the first official promo for the American Horror Story spin-off, American Horror Stories, is here, and it promises nothing short of “a twisted new anthology” from Ryan Murphy.
Synchronously, the official AHS social media accounts today unveiled the short glimpse into the terrifying world of American Horror Stories.
Due for a July 15 release exclusively on FX on Hulu, the episodic Black Mirror-style spin-off was first announced by show co-creator Ryan Murphy in May of last year, with filming commencing almost 12 months later in April 2021.
Hardcore fans have theorized that the occult symbolism embedded within the newly released Stories teaser could be hinting at a return to the mythos of American Horror Story: Roanoke… or perhaps it signals that the witches are returning once again?
American Horror Stories: Who’s in the cast (so far)?
Based on both official announcements and filming reports, the core cast of the AHS spin-off (or, at least, the first five episodes) is as follows:
- Matt Bomer
- Taissa Farmiga
- Evan Peters
- Billie Lourd
- Charles Melton
- Paris Jackson
- Kaia Gerber
- Sierra McCormick
- Merrin Dungey
- Valerie Loo
- Selena Sloan
- Ashley Carter
- Luke Mullen
- Celia Finkelstein
- Madison Bailey
- Ben “Miss Benny” J. Pierce
- Kyle Red Silverstein
- Rhenzy Feliz
- Leonardo Cecchi
- Dyllon Burnside
- Kevin McHale
- Brady Reiter
- Nico Greetham
- Ronen Rubinstein
As the first season of the show (which consists of seven episodes) has not yet wrapped filming, it’s likely that there are still more cast announcements to come.
Naturally, fans will be expecting an appearance from reigning AHS Queen, Sarah Paulson, and while she will be directing an episode, she revealed last year that she doesn’t know if she’ll be starring in it: “Um, I don’t know if I’m going to be in it, but I do think I’ll be directing it.”
Lily Rabe, who is one of several AHS alums confirmed to be returning for the 10th season of the main show, previously expressed interest in reprising the role of Asylum‘s Sister Mary Eunice for an episode of Stories: “Sometimes, we do find out how these characters got to where they are, but I don’t think there’s a cap on that feeling. I would always love to learn more.”
