Supernatural Season 16 release date updates: Will there be a new season? When is it coming out?

Supernatural is The CW’s longest-running series. It is also the longest-running sci-fi/fantasy show in the U.S. Will Supernatural Season 16 happen?

Doctor Who is the only fantasy series that has run longer than Supernatural, especially when you include the original series. Funnily enough, the two shows are often crossed over in fanfiction. Wouldn’t it be fun to see the Winchesters meet The Doctor?

Anyway, before I go down that rabbit hole, let’s just talk about Supernatural Season 16 for a minute. This season isn’t happening. At least, not for the time being.

While filming Season 15, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki decided it was time to hang up the keys to Baby. The penultimate episode wrapped up the season’s storyline with the final episode acting as a series finale. While that series finale wasn’t to everyone’s liking, it has wrapped up things.

Does that really mean the series is completely done? Could the stars return? Could we revisit the world of the Winchesters? Here’s what we know about Supernatural Season 16 right now.

How many seasons of Supernatural are there?

There are 15 seasons of the series. During the filming of Season 15, the stars announced the end. This was their choice and not the network’s choice. The CW had always said Supernatural would continue for as long as the main stars wanted to do it and as long as the ratings held up.

The total number of episodes to watch is 327. And you can get all episodes in Supernatural: The Complete Series boxset.

Is Season 16 of Supernatural going to happen?

As of right now, there are no plans for a 16th season. Of course, there are plenty of fans who would love to see another season.

There have been many attempts to bring a spin-off to the universe, which would allow the Winchesters to show up now and then. We could even have a young Winchesters spin-off. Of course, that wouldn’t be Season 16, but it would be a continuation of the world.

How many episodes are in Supernatural Season 16?

If Supernatural Season 16 did happen, we’d likely see it get 20 episodes. This was something the stars wanted to happen to give them more time with their family. However, previous seasons had 22–23 episodes.

The only season that only had 16 episodes was Season 3. This was due to the writer’s strike, which meant delays in filming episodes.

When is Supernatural Season 16 filming?

The season isn’t filming because it hasn’t been confirmed yet. We’ll let you know if anything changes.

We can’t put a rough release date down because it’s simply not happening yet. This is something we’ll revisit if we find out Padalecki and Ackles have changed their mind.
