Does SPOILER die in Fear Street Part 1?
By Sandy C.
Stranger Things meets Scream in Netflix‘s new horror-slasher movie, Fear Street Part 1, the first movie in the trilogy. The movie features no shortage of gore and death. Who dies in the first movie?
Please note there are spoilers ahead if you have not yet watched Fear Street Part 1. Watch the movie first and then come back! That is, unless the suspense is killing you and you need all the answers right this minute. Then, by all means, proceed to the spoilers.
Fear Street Part 1 follows a group of teens in 1994 who appear to be the targets of Sarah Fier, a witch that’s been haunting their town of Shadyside for 300 years. Will they be able to stop the curse before one of them is killed?
If you’ve already watched this movie, you likely already know the answer. But there is one character in particular we’re not sure about — Sam.
Is Sam dead at the end of Fear Street Part 1?
When the teens realize that Ruby Lane and the other undead “henchmen” are only after them to get to Sam, they come up with a plan and learn that someone has survived this before. This mystery person will likely be revealed in Part 2, and we’ll be getting more answers.
In the meantime, all we know is that, if you die, the curse is broken. This is the case even if you are resurrected, as long as your heart stops beating, Sarah Fier will leave you alone. Or so the group believed…
Towards the final act, Deena manages to kill Sam by drowning her. Ruby Lane and the others disappear (after killing Kate and Simon, sadly). But the one we’re wondering about is Sam.
Yes, Sam dies when Deena drowns her, but she’s brought back to life. However, the witch returns to possess Sam.
Deena is almost killed by the possessed Sam, but manages to tie her up and promises Sam that she’ll “get her back.” This doesn’t mean Sam is dead, yet, but she is fully possessed by the witch just as all the others were before her.
Is there even a way to bring Sam back? What are you theories?
Fear Street Part 2 premieres on Friday, July 9, and Fear Street Part 3 drops on July 16, only on Netflix.
