Motherland: Fort Salem season 2, episode 3 “A Tiffany” is set to test bonds and alliances as the witches continue to find their place in the ranks with the Camarilla threat hanging over everything.
The Bellweather unit, now ensconced in the Sekhmet coven led by M, have their own talents to grow at war college. Raelle has her healing and her new found fungi based powers (fitting as she’s now a member of a coven named after the Egyptian war goddess of plague, chaos, and healing) and Tally is connected to Alder and can see sound.
Abigail, however, is struggling. She’s a powerful weather witch from an even more powerful family but the top brass aren’t looking at her like they are her coven sisters. Abigail has yet to command the kind of power that draws attention, and it’s likely to rub her raw that she can’t quite find her footing.
But while those three deal with the petty whispering of their classmates at war college, Scylla and Anacostia are out in the field gathering intel on the civilian movement that has anti-witch hate bubbling at its core.
An alliance is struck in Motherland: Fort Salem season 2, episode 3
Episode 2 “Abomination” put the two women in the same room with Anacostia poking at the snatches of remorse Scylla seemed to be displaying at the site of her terrorist attack. It led to Anacostia getting in on the young witch’s plan to infiltrate a group of non-witches who are beginning to organize around a shared hate for witchkind.
“A Tiffany” will establish an alliance between the two as they work to find out more about this group’s agenda. Something tells us what they find will be troubling as there could be a link between the civilian movement and the Camarilla.
Series creator Eliot Laurence told TVLine that Motherland: Fort Salem season 2 will be exploring topics of organized hate in direct reaction to events that have occurred across the world. He said:
"This is a season that looks a lot at hate. As you saw in Episode 1, there’s suddenly a very public outing of a witch. Penelope didn’t even intend to [melt that glass]. She was just singing in church and something happened vocally. There’s a lot of hate that comes up around that, so it’ll be a season of examining institutions and rooting out the corruption in these institutions and looking at how hate is so infectious within these structures of power. We were definitely inspired by what’s going on in the world, and I hope it’s not an after school special kind of way."
Hopefully, this means the show will also take a hard look at the callousness toward non-witch life displayed by the Spree and how their actions have played into the hate that’s taking root in the country. We’ll have to wait and see.
