Is This Is Us season 6 premiering in 2021?

The end is almost here for the Pearson family. After five seasons, NBC’s This Is Us will end after the upcoming sixth season.

Season 5 was a rollercoaster both inside and outside of the show. For the first time in the show’s history, This Is Us did not premiere in September. Due to the global pandemic, the Season 5 premiere was pushed back until late October. The show also suffered multiple production delays so the finale aired in late May as opposed to early spring like it did in seasons past.

In terms of storylines, the show is building towards a final meet up at Kevin’s house with Rebecca essentially on her death bed. In the flash forward at the end of Season 5, Kate is marrying her colleague, which means she divorced from Toby. Kevin and Madison called off their wedding, but they appear to be on good terms. Finally, Randall is a rising star in the political world.

We’re so excited to see how this This Is Us wraps up its story. With the fall rapidly approaching, will This Is Us return to NBC sooner rather than later?

This Is Us Season 6 release date

Unfortunately, fans are going to have to wait longer than usual for the Pearsons to return. This Is Us will not premiere in September 2021. In fact, Season 6 will not air in 2021 entirely.

Instead, This Is Us Season 6 will premiere mid-season for the first time in the show’s history. Expect the show to return in early 2022, most likely January. There is a silver lining with the 2022 release date. There will be less weekly breaks so the season will air largely interrupted.

As of July 2021, the main cast members are all set to return. That includes Sterling K. Brown, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan.

This Is Us Season 6 will air in 2022 on NBC.
