The big screen is welcoming an equally large attraction, Clifford! Here’s everything we know about the Clifford the Big Red Dog movie, including the synopsis and where you can watch the movie outside of the theater.

Who else here watched Clifford the Big Red Dog or read the books as kids or to children they were in charge of babysitting back in the day? Needless to say, Clifford is a character many of us grew up watching.

However, we weren’t all excited about this live-action movie when it was first announced. We all wondered how they would bring to live a big RED dog. Well, it turned out as you expected it to be, but is that so bad? Again, this is a big RED dog. Personally, I love it. And kids, who are the target audience here, will love it even more.

Clifford the Big Red Dog movie release date: When does it come out?

UPDATE Aug. 2, 2021: Due to Delta variant concerns, Clifford the Big Red Dog has been pulled from its Sept. 17, 2021, release date, THR reports. No new release date has been announced just yet — we’ll be sure to keep you posted!

The movie will release in theaters on Sept. 17, 2021, and only in theaters! That’s right. Unlike most movies these days, Clifford will not see a streaming release, at least, not one that has been announced yet.

Since the movie is from Paramount, it’s possible that Paramount+ will get streaming rights and make the movie available a few weeks after its out in theaters. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.

What is the Clifford the Big Red Dog movie about?

Don’t expect the same story from the animated series. While it may have some references to the cartoon and books, this movie is taking another direction.

The movie will follow Emily Elizabeth taking in a red puppy. Her love makes him grow into a ten-foot pop overnight, which isn’t ideal for a small New York City apartment. Watch as Clifford, Emily, and her fun uncle Casey take a bit out of the Big Apple and learn to love BIG.
