Jo Karev has not had the easiest of storylines throughout the last two seasons of the series. What’s next for her on Grey’s Anatomy Season 18?

During Season 16, Jo found out that Alex Karev was leaving her for Izzy. During Season 17, she had to face the horrors of COVID-19 and figure out what type of doctor she wanted to be. There was also the storyline with Luna, as she focused on trying to adopt the child.

With some hope, there’s a bit more positivity in Jo’s life during Grey’s Anatomy Season 18. It’s time to see her find some sort of happiness as a mom and as a doctor.

What’s next for the character? Here’s a look at things that could happen during the new season.

What’s in store for Jo on Grey’s Anatomy Season 18?

At the end of Season 17, Jo sold her shares to the hospital that Alex left her to Tom Koracick. She also adopted Luna thanks to some help from Link and she bought Jackson’s apartment. It’s time for her to move forward with her life.

The previous season also saw her head back to residency. She couldn’t stand the darkness of being a general surgeon, especially during a time of COVID-19. She found joy in pink scrubs and that’s where we find her now.

We’ll get to see Jo continue growing as a doctor in a new specialty. It’s time for her to deliver more babies and find out what it’s really like in the world of gynecology. There are sure to be some darker moments, but for the most part, she’ll hopefully find her joy.

And then there’s her life as a mom. She gets the chance to raise Luna, but that will also bring some problems of its own. Not only will Luna need the constant medical care, but Jo will have to figure out what it’s like to be a full-time single parent while working as a doctor. The good news is there are many others who have done this, including Meredith Grey. Jo has a village, and she’s going to have to use it.

Will she end up finding love? In a way, I want to see her take on the single life. Put the focus in being a mom and a doctor. Sure, we don’t all give up our love lives, but there is joy in being a mom and being single. There’s nothing wrong with showing that storyline for Jo for some time and then help her find love again eventually.
