Descendants: The Royal Wedding Disney Plus release date, cast, synopsis and more

DESCENDANTS 3 - This highly anticipated third installment in the global hit Disney Channel Original Movie franchise continues the contemporary saga of good versus evil as the teenage daughters and sons of Disney's most infamous villains-Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as the villain kids or VKs)-return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep. The latest chapter of Disney Channel‘s successful Descendants franchise has officially arrived and quickly created a lot of buzz among fans of the hit franchise. Unlike the previous iterations, Disney got a bit more creative with Descendants: The Royal Wedding in making the latest addition to the franchise a stunning animated spectacle!

In Descendants: The Royal Wedding, fans get to witness the fairytale event of the summer with the arrival of Mal and Ben’s royal wedding! Fans have already fallen in love with the special, but those without Disney Channel are understandably eager to know when the fourth title in the franchise will be making its way to Disney Plus for their streaming enjoyment.

Below, we share what is known so far about the release of Descendants: The Royal Wedding on the Disney Plus as well as details about the special’s cast, synopsis, and more.

Descendants: The Royal Wedding cast

Although this might be an animated special, Disney has once again brought back all of your favorite stars to reprise the roles they’ve made famous in the films.

Returning for Descendants: The Royal Wedding are Dove Cameron (Mal), Sofia Carson (Evie), Booboo Stewart (Jay), Mitchell Hope (Ben), Sarah Jeffery (Audrey), Melanie Paxson (Fairy Godmother), China Anne McClain (Uma), Jedidiah Goodacre (Chad), Anna Cathcart (Dizzy), Dan Payne (Beast), Bobby Moynihan (Dude the Dog) and Cheyenne Jackson (Hades).

The special also managed to find a way to pay tribute to the late Cameron Boyce, who passed away before the title was filmed.

Descendants: The Royal Wedding synopsis

As the title suggests, Descendants: The Royal Wedding centers around the fairytale wedding of Mal and Ben. Of course, no wedding would be complete without a few setbacks which come in the form of a meddling Disney villain set on stopping the happy couple from walking down the aisle.

Here’s how Disney officially describes the special via IMDb:

"Happily-ever-after continues for Auradon’s power couple, Mal and Ben, as they prepare to say “I do” at an epic celebration with their friends and family, but Hades threatens to ruin it all."

Is Descendants: The Royal Wedding on Disney Plus?

Unfortunately, at this time Descendants: The Royal Wedding is not yet streaming on Disney Plus. While you can’t currently enjoy Descendants 4 on Disney Plus, the good news is that all three of the live-action films are available to stream on Disney Plus including Descendants, Descendants 2, Descendants 3. 

When will Descendants: The Royal Wedding be on Disney Plus?

At this time, Disney Plus has not yet confirmed when Descendants: The Royal Wedding will be available to stream on Disney Plus but it’s looking like fans could have to wait a few months before the title drops on Disney Plus.

Descendants 3 debuted on Disney Plus six months after its original Disney Channel broadcast and it’s expected that Disney might follow this same release strategy for Descendants: The Royal Wedding. Should this indeed be the case, fans should be able to stream Descendants: The Royal Wedding on Disney Plus sometime in February 2022.
