Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra are one of the strongest couples to come out of the Teen Mom franchise, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t faced their fair share of ups and downs throughout the years. Between giving up their first child for adoption, fights, living separately, and an unfortunate miscarriage in 2020, these two have been through many difficult experiences together. But in the end, they’ve always made it out hand in hand — or so we thought.

The 29-year-old MTV star, who’s currently pregnant, shared an alarming post to social media this week that had fans gasping. As reported by The Sun, Catelynn insinuated on Twitter on Tuesday that she was divorcing Tyler after nearly six years of marriage. Although she didn’t say her husband by name, she included a photo of the two from Teen Mom, all but confirming a split for the pair.

“This is hard to share, but I am officially done. It’s been a long time coming but I have always been upfront with my fans & supporters & this time is no different,” Catelynn tweeted. “Thank you for your continued support & during this tough time.”

But that’s not all. Catelynn’s post also included a link that, understandably, had fans clicking on. Who couldn’t click on the story after such a suspicious post? And when fans headed to the article in her tweet, they were not happy with what they saw.

Cate and Tyler are not divorcing, nor are they splitting up. And although that’s wonderful and relieving news to find out, fans are not happy to be tricked by the reality TV star. If you clicked on the link in Catelynn’s tweet, it leads to an article from Celebuzz talking about Cate’s contractions during her pregnancy.

Nowhere in the article linked does it mention a breakup or divorce, meaning Catelynn used clickbait to get her followers to open the story.

As The Sun points out, many fans took to Reddit to express their frustrations about being tricked. Others said they couldn’t knock Catelynn because the clickbait was obviously working. It looks like Cate either received criticism in the replies for her tweet or she anticipated some backlash, because she’s limited the comments on the post.

This is hardly the first time Catelynn has been called out for using clickbait to make a quick buck. In June 2020, she even shared a photo of a sonogram and made her followers believe she was pregnant. “What should we name HIM?” she wrote on Instagram, telling her fans to head to the link in her bio for more information. Of course, the story she linked out to was not about a pregnancy at all. At that time, Cate was not expecting a child.

At this point, Catelynn has no shame sharing these posts and we should probably just get used to it, I guess! But there’s really no bigger frustration on social media sometimes than being tricked by clickbait. We get it.
