What are the best 70s movies of all-time? Here, we countdown the top 25.

The 1970s were a decade that was defined by major historical events such as the end of the Beetles, Elvis Presley’s death, the invention of the mobile phone, the founding of Microsoft, and the creation of the Apple computer. This was also the decade of Watergate, the United States pulling out of Vietnam, and  Margaret Thatcher becomes the first woman Prime Minister of Britain.

But between all of these events comes some of the best movies that have ever been put on film and shown to an audience. Generational defining epics, horrors, dramas, and some films that would kickstart some of the most well-known franchises of all time.

For me, the 1970s are the greatest decade in cinema history. Filmmakers at this time were continually pumping out some of the best film content there has ever been, as creativity was at an all-time high.

Many masterpieces of cinema were released, and many films were released this decade that have been studied and have built the formula for films to follow. Many of my personal all-time favorite movies came from this decade, and many more cinema classics graced the eyes of any lucky moviegoer of any time.

Here is a list of what I think are the 25 best movies from the 1970s. I know there are still many that I haven’t seen, and some big-name ones at that, but even without those I still think these 25 films stand the test of time and still hold a place in cinema’s finest.
