Best new anime on Netflix: No. 7 Shaman King (August 2021)

Last, but certainly not least on our list of new anime to stream on Netflix is another classic reimagined: Shaman King.

This supernatural adventure, directed by Joji Furuta, is a reboot of the 2001 anime based on the manga series by Hiroyuki Takei who was the first to attempt a Shaman-focused manga.

The new anime, released just this month, revolves around the character of Yoh Asakura, a shaman who functions as a medium between the worlds of the living and the dead. Yoh seeks to become the “Shaman King,” one who is able to contact the “Great Spirit,” and gain the ability to reshape the world in any way they wish. But in order to make this dream a reality, he must win the Shaman Fight, a battle held once every 500 years between competing shamans.
