American Horror Story: Double Feature has arrived and the first two episodes gave fans a lot to unpack. Not only have audiences found a new AHS favorite in Macaulay Culkin, but we also have so many theories about what’s ahead. But first thing’s first: What exactly happens when you take those pills?

Spoiler alert! Spoilers are ahead if you missed the first two episodes of the FX hit series.

Season 10 of AHS introduces Harry (Finn Wittrock), his pregnant wife Doris (Lily Rabe), and their young daughter Alma (Ryan Kiera Armstrong). The small family has moved to a seemingly quiet town by the beach to hopefully bring Harry inspiration. He’s a struggling writer with a severe case of writer’s block.

It doesn’t take long at all for Harry to find the inspiration he was seeking. At a bar, Harry meets Austin Sommers (Evan Peter) and Sarah “Belle Noir Cunningham (Frances Conroy). They are both popular and successful writers who tell Harry that writer’s block will end very soon.

When Austin invites Harry to his home, he offers him a bag of black pills. Austin promises that these pills are the solution to unblocking Harry’s talents. Harry is cautious. What are they pills made out of? What are the ingredients? What are the side effects? But Austin dismisses it all, claiming that all that matters is the success Harry will achieve.

American Horror Story: What happens when you take the pills?

Harry reluctantly takes the pills, and it only takes minutes for Harry to become a typing machine. All of a sudden Harry is able to see words and new ideas pop into his head. His writing is an instant hit. Even Netflix offers him a deal. But what’s the cost?

Harry is now thirsty for blood. And he’ll soon learn that human blood tastes best. So what happened?

These pills really do unlock your full potential (kinda like Bradley Cooper’s Limitless). But to keep it up, Harry has to continue taking the pills and drinking blood. Something he is not sure he wants to do.

And remember those zombie looking creatures lurking around town? Those are people who also took the pill, but they only work on people who have true talent. And, unfortunately, they did not. So, instead of using their full talent, they became these monsters.

In American Horror Story season 10, episode 2, we see that Harry’s daughter, Alma, has also taken the pill. She is now a very skilled violinist. At the end of the episode, a horrified Doris finds her daughter drinking the blood of an animal.

If Doris were to take the pill, do you think she’ll also unlock her full potential as an interior designer or will she turn into a talentless creature?
