NCIS Season 19 is just around the corner. With three weeks to go until the show returns for the 2021-22 television season, there is still so much we don’t know about the trajectory of the season.

So far, we do know we’re in for a little less Mark Harmon and a little more action with some new folks. But where does that leave some of our favorites who are still part of the show?

In this case, we’re looking at you, Timothy McGee. Special Agent McGee has been a leading force of Team Gibbs since he started out as a probie back in Season 1 before fully integrating into the team. Since then, he has built a close relationship with his boss, even when things were strained when Gibbs shot him last year.

Being Second-in-Command, he has unwittingly stepped into the role as lead, especially now that they are down not just one, but two team members.

Will McGee take charge of Team Gibbs in NCIS Season 19?

With Gibbs’ absence from the team, does this mean he will be stepping in to fill his shoes? Of course, no one can replace Gibbs, but McGee could be more of a leader for the team. Especially with the exit of Agent Bishop and REACT Agent Jessica Knight coming in to help out more.

We do know that there will be a new character, FBI Agent Alden Park, who is still largely an unknown variable. He could potentially fill Gibbs’ role, but even if he doesn’t, it would be interesting to see McGee lead the team and see how he likes it.

Do you think McGee would be interested in being team leader? Right now, he is the most senior agent on the team and will likely take charge, either permanently or until someone else takes over.

Even if he doesn’t take over as team leader, McGee is central to Team Gibbs and we’re sure that he will make sure that even with all of the stumbling blocks, they continue to do the good work they have always done.
