Ted Lasso season 2: Did Jamie Tartt actually kick that “too far” goal?
Ted Lasso season 2 continues to follow the er, friendship, between Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt on the field, and the two characters just might be starting to appreciate each other’s talents for the benefit of the team.
Though they played together on the field in season 1, much of their conflict took place in the locker room and at practice as they struggled to accept the new coach and how to be better teammates.
Warning: spoilers below for Ted Lasso Season 2, Episode 6 “The Signal” below.
In Ted Lasso season 2, episode 6, Roy Kent comes up with a plan for when Jamie Tartt should go back to being a show-off on the field. His signal is unconventional, but he does find a way to channel Tartt’s obnoxious personality into a play. This leads Jamie to kick an unbelievable goal from across the pitch that wins the game for the Greyhounds.
Series co-creator Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard on the show shared some behind-the-scenes footage on Twitter this week that answered a popular fan question. To save time and money, many of the goals shown on screen are done in post-production with CGI, but that doesn’t mean the Richmond cast aren’t talented footballers.
So did Phil Dunster, who plays Tartt on the show, make that incredible goal himself? The instant replay footage says yes! Check out this video below from Hunt showing the moment Dunster kicked the goal. Knowing the goal was real makes us love the Richmond players’ reactions even more!
Ted Lasso season 2 is currently streaming on Apple TV+ with new episodes dropping each Friday.
What are your predictions for the remainder of the season? Do you think the positive relationship between Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt will last?
