The Activist on CBS premiere date, cast, synopsis and more

CBS is dropping a new competition series to be hosted by Usher and co-hosted by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Julianne Hough! Here’s everything we know about The Activist so far, including the release date and what to expect.

Nothing gets us more excited than a fun competition series, this is especially true during times like today, as we continue to spend most of our time indoors. And this show is for a good cause, which makes it all even more exciting. The network that always brings us the best in the genre is, of course, CBS!

Global Citizen and Live Nation have announced on Sept. 9 that Grammy Award-winning star Usher will be hosting the upcoming competition series, The Activist, along with award-winning actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Emmy Award winner Julianne Hough as co-hosts.

Best of all? We don’t have to wait long for the show to premiere. But enough teasing! Read on to learn everything about The Activist. 

The Activist premiere date

The competition series is coming to CBS just in time for the Fall TV 2021 season. The Activist premieres on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET.

The show will consist of five episodes, with a new one premiering each Friday to give us five weeks. You can watch the episodes on the CBS Television Network or stream them live and on demand on Paramount+.

What is The Activist about?

The competition series will feature six activist from around the world who are trying to change one of three urgent universal causes. These are health, education, and the environment.

Audiences will see these activists compete in media stunts and campaigns. Their success at bringing attention to their cause will be measured by social media engagement and online metrics. This will give viewers a chance to help spread awareness and demand change.

"“THE ACTIVIST is a first-of-its-kind competition series that will inspire real change, as the series progresses from the United States to Rome for the Activists’ final challenge at the G20,” said Hugh Evans, CEO and co-founder of Global Citizen. “The audience will see the Activists’ passion and commitment for their causes tested as they petition world leaders to take urgent action to resolve the interconnected crises we face.”"
