11. Dark Angel

Years it ran: 2000–2002

Who was in it: Jessica Alba, Michael Weatherly, Valarie Rae Miller, Richard Gunn, Alimi Ballard, Jensen Ackles, Kevin Durand

Why it was canceled: This was one of those shows that just couldn’t get the live ratings it needed. After just one season, it moved to Friday nights, which really was the death slot at the time (things are changing now). FOX couldn’t justify the cost of the series to bring a third season.

There were a lot of visual effects to the story. After all, it involves super soldiers with special abilities.

Why we still wish it was on the air: Dark Angel was one of those shows that ended with a huge cliffhanger. It was like it only really just found it’s footing in twisty storytelling and it was ended. Clearly, there was a lot more to come with the war being threatened.

We’ve since learned what the storyline for the third season would have been. It would have combined the stories from the first and second season as well as developing the history of the Earth. With the direction the second season went in, this third season was clearly necessary to understand the story, and because of that, we wish it had a chance to air.
