5 canceled FOX shows we wish were coming back this fall (2021)
FOX has made some bad choices when it comes to cancellations over the years. Here are the five FOX shows we wish were back this fall.
There are certainly some great FOX shows heading to the fall schedule this year. We’re looking at 9-1-1 and The Resident continuing their run, and most of the animation lineup is back on Sundays.
However, there are a few shows missing that we’d love to see back. We’re not counting 9-1-1: Lone Star, which is being held for midseason. As much as we’d love for it to be on the fall schedule, holding to the midseason is actually a smart move for the network. It gives us consistent 9-1-1 programming throughout the main TV season.
We’re also not including Lucifer, which was saved by Netflix. The final season is now on Netflix.
This is all about the canceled FOX shows from the last few years.
5 FOX shows we’d love to see on the fall 2021 schedule
This list is in alphabetical order. With the various genres, it’s hard to rank them.
Bless the Harts
We start with an animated series that was surprisingly canceled. The ratings weren’t all that bad, and animation has been a strong part of the FOX lineup for a very long time. It holds up against the football, and it’s a genre that managed to continue during the pandemic without too many issues.
Bless the Harts brought us another American family trying to live the dream. Sure, it was nothing we hadn’t seen before when it comes to FOX animated series, but it was still entertaining. Sometimes we just need something to help us forget about our own lives.
neXt
There were a few shows in the 2020-2021 season that didn’t get a fair shot thanks to the pandemic, and neXt was one of them. This series wasn’t initially planned to be a fall show but it was moved to the fall because of pandemic delays with the usual fall shows.
There was a lot of promise for the series. It could have stood a chance with the right promotion, but FOX didn’t give it that. With the cliffhanger ending, we still have a lot of questions that we’ll never get answers for.
Prodigal Son
While Prodigal Son got some good promotion, the series couldn’t keep its audience. This was likely linked to the change of night, as Tuesdays are a highly competitive night and FOX doesn’t do well.
This is a show we needed more of. It was entertaining while offering a look at mental health trying to get past the stigma. We were connected to each of the characters for different reasons, and we certainly still need to know more about Edrisa. We also need to know what was to come after the events in the woods in the abrupt series finale.
The Gifted
We’re heading back a couple of TV seasons for this. Yes, I’m still salty about The Gifted being canceled. It was such a fun X-Men universe series and brought up a lot of current topics using mutants instead of different races.
There was the great family dynamic. Then there was the element of the story that left us wondering who we could trust. On top of that, we were ready to learn far more about the Hellfire Club than the series was able to offer.
The Passage
Finally, we have the vampire series that gave us a slightly different take on the legends. The Passage brought us a little more horror and fear, definitely leaving out all the sparkles and sexy allure of the creatures.
The series brought us an excellent cast with some intriguing writing. With the way things ended on the first season, we certainly needed to learn more. It would be fun to have something a little more supernatural on FOX.
