CBS has been light on cancellations over recent years, but that doesn’t stop us wishing some of the CBS shows were back this fall. Here are five we’d love to see return.

While NBC went heavy on cancellations recently, CBS remained light. It canceled just enough to make room on the schedule for new content but tried to move some content to its streaming platform, Paramount+.

That doesn’t mean there weren’t some disappointing casualties. There are some shows that we’d love more of that were canceled in 2020 and 2021.

We’re taking a look at the list, sharing the five canceled CBS shows we wish were on the fall 2021 TV schedule.

5 canceled CBS shows we wish were on the fall 2021 schedule

This list is in alphabetical order. With multiple genres, it’s hard to rank them. You simply can’t compare genres!

All Rise

We start with one of the 2021 casualties, All Rise. There is a chance that the show will get a new life at OWN, but right now, nothing is set in stone. Either way, it definitely won’t be on the fall 2021 schedule.

All Rise is an important series, focusing on inequality, unfair expectations, sexism, and racism. It’s an important series for the time, and sometimes networks should look at that rather than the live ratings. Plus, Simone Missick shone in the lead role as Lola Carmichael. There’s no doubt we need her on our screens more.

Criminal Minds

Technically, Criminal Minds wasn’t canceled. It was given one final season to wrap up storylines. However, it wasn’t really the show’s choice. This was one of those shows that could have continued for many more seasons. There’s no doubt that there are a lot of dark and terrible crimes committed on a regular basis.

There was hope of a revival on Paramount+. It wouldn’t have been in time for fall, but it was something. That revival is now dead in the water, or so it seems.

God Friended Me

We need more feel-good shows on TV. God Friended Me was an excellent series that built in the feel-good element with the mystery. Who was “God?” That was the big question throughout.

The series got off to a good start. However, like anything with mysteries, viewers fell away as answers didn’t happen. It’s a shame because there was plenty of potential as this series focused on how helping one person can come back ten-fold. Karma is a thing, guys!

Tommy

When you think popular CBS shows, you likely think of crime dramas. Tommy was one of those that was canceled after just one season. It just didn’t find it’s audience. Part of that I think was the questionable promotion. It focused on the first woman in charge angle instead of looking at all the storylines the series would cover.

Edie Falco shined, and it wasn’t all about her proving herself as the first female in charge. It was all about family, managing a work-life balance, protecting citizens, and bringing in change where change was needed. The show was good and it needed better promotion, and it’s a shame that it didn’t get the chance to prove that.

The Unicorn

There are some great comedies on CBS. One of those was The Unicorn. This was more of a heartfelt comedy, mixing emotion and humor together so brilliantly. It’s rare that you find a comedy like it.

This show was more than just being about a single dad figuring out life with his children. It was about who friends come together as family. It was about how love finds us when we least expect it. And it was about acceptance of everyone, avoiding judgment because we don’t know what people are going through.
