Edward Scissorhands is a similar story of a gentle creature born in a lab, but when the inventor dies he’s left unfinished. Instead of hands he has blades, which sets him apart from the people around him. No matter how kind or gentle he is, the blades on his hands keep Edward (Johnny Depp) from being normal. He falls in love with Kim (Winona Ryder) but they can never enjoy a true relationship because his appearance always sets them back.
The movie is enjoyed at Halloween but it’s more of a dark fairy tale full of lessons about the nature of kindness and the importance of tolerance. It’s classic Tim Burton, and the movie’s success paved the way for Burton to work with Depp over and over again through the years.
