Live TV ratings: 9-1-1 up, Ordinary Joe down [Monday, Sept. 27]
The live TV ratings for Monday, Sept. 27 are in. As 9-1-1 got a boost, Ordinary Joe lost in its demo and audience. Here’s a look at the full ratings to see what they could mean for the various shows.
We start with the top performer of the night in the demo. The Voice claimed that spot with a 1.0 demo, although it was down 12% from the Monday night premiere last week.
The viewers didn’t stick around for the new NBC series. Ordinary Joe lost 23% of its demo and 30% of its audience. A loss from pilot to second episode is normal, but this is worrying. The live TV ratings were already on the low side for NBC, and the new ratings are even more concerning. We’ll need to see how things stabilize for the show, and hopefully, that happens within the next couple of episodes.
NCIS was the best show in the audience
When it comes to the total audience, it was NCIS that took that top spot. While it did lose 7% of its audience, it pulled in 7.79 million viewers. This is down from the Tuesday results, but it’s getting Mondays off to a good start on CBS. In fact, the audience and the demo were the highest for the timeslot except for the two-hour episode of The Voice.
The demo wasn’t as strong as some of the 8 p.m. TV shows. That’s not all too surprising as 8 p.m. tends to have the better demo ratings.
Dancing with the Stars, 9-1-1, and The Neighborhood all pulled in the next highest demo behind The Voice. For 9-1-1, it was an uptick after a slow start to the season. It looks like fans just didn’t realize the series was back!
The audience for 9-1-1 also stayed steady. This is a great sign for FOX. Sadly, the people didn’t stick around for The Big Leap. The new FOX series lost 31% of its demo, dropping to 0.2 (9-1-1‘s demo was 0.8). Even with the steady audience, this drop in the demo is concerning for the series. FOX doesn’t give new shows that much time to succeed.
The other new show we were keeping an eye on was NCIS: Hawaii. The fourth NCIS series saw a 2% drop in the demo, which actually isn’t that bad. At a 0.5 rating on a Monday night, we’re not concerned just yet. The audience dipped by 18%, but the second episode sees a dip so we’re not worried. Plus, it was the highest total audience of the timeslot.
The Good Doctor Season 5 premiere in the live TV ratings
The Good Doctor Season 5 premiered in the 10 p.m. timeslots and performed relatively well in the live TV ratings. It won the timeslot in the demo with a 0.6 rating. Both figures were just slightly down from the Season 4 premiere. Both figures were up from the Season 4 finale, which is an excellent sign.
The shows we’re most concerned about right now are Ordinary Joe and The Big Leap. Unless the delayed viewings are great, these new shows need to find their audiences quickly.
