Set It Off is my choice for the most underrated action film of all-time.

I’ve never been a big fan of super hero movies. However, when I met my homeboy Squid back in third grade, he was wearing a Spider-Man t-shirt. Needless to say, comic books and movies about super heroes have always been Squid’s forte.

Last Sunday, he was helping me get set up to watch the Chicago Bears game before the other guys arrived when I realized I was out of ice. With the amount of soda and beers that the guys drink, having the cooler filled to the brim with ice is a necessity. I told Squid to finish setting up while I ran to the store to get the ice.

When I came back to my place, he was sitting on the couch with his feet up watching the original X-Men movie from 2000. After I yelled at him for being lazy and getting distracted, he said that X-Men was the most underrated action movie ever and he couldn’t resist the urge to watch it. I pretended not to hear him and finished setting up.

Set It Off is the most underrated action film of all-time. The action scenes are incredible and the movie has an All-Star cast.

However, his words made me contemplate, what is the most underrated action film I’ve ever seen? It didn’t take me long to arrive at my answer: Set It Off.

Whenever great action films are discussed, this 1996 classic is either underappreciated or omitted altogether. Let’s take a closer look at why more audiences should take the time to watch this film, and why they’ll be happy they did when it’s over.
