5 must-watch shows on Acorn TV in October 2021

Family Business

The second season of Family Business is arriving on the streamer this month. This is a French drama with English subtitles. It focuses on a mother and daughter duo at a legal firm, where they deal with custody battles, involuntary commitment, and much more. They have to manage their own firm and their personal lives at the same time.

Among the eight episodes, there are some interesting cases. One involves two kids looking to sue their parents for neglect and another involves a woman filing a paternity suit six years after a one-night stand.

All eight episodes will be available on Monday, Oct. 11.

Highway Men, Pirates & Rogues

Like documentaries? Ther’s a docuseries heading to Acorn TV at the end of the month. It’s all about the rogues of yesteryear with Dr. Sam Willis hosting.

He looks at the highwaymen and pirates that have become popular in the imagination for TV shows and books. It’s time to break down the romanticized version of them and look at who they really were.

All three episodes are available on Monday, Oct. 25.

Manhunt: The Night Stalker

For those who love TV crime dramas, you’ll likely have an Acorn TV subscription always running. October is set to bring new episodes of Manhunt. The second season is titled The Night Stalker, and it sees Martin Clunes return as DCI Colin Sutton to investigate a harrowing case.

This isn’t the same Night Stalker as Richard Ramirez. This one takes place in South East London and is based on true events. The police look for a burglar and serial rapist who terrorized the area for 17 years.

The first episode premieres on Monday, Oct. 18 with new episodes every Monday.

Midsomer Murders

The latest season of Midsomer Murders continues to air throughout the month. There are three episodes left of Season 22, and each episode is a different case. In Monday, Oct. 4’s episode (now available) Emily Bevan and David Yi guest star.

The series needs no introduction, does it? My only question is why do people continue to live in Midsomer? It’s not a quiet little village, is it?

Episodes airs on Mondays.

Republic of Doyle

The last series to check out is Republic of Doyle. Season 4 is available this month, and it continues to focus on the dysfunctional Doyle family. The father and son PI firm continues to investigate cases, but the family doesn’t have it all together personally.

The show offers comedic elements to the crime drama genre. It’s focused more on the relationships and adventures with the cases being just something to bring everyone together.

Check out all 13 episodes of the season now.
