It wasn’t a good night for the live TV ratings on Tuesday, Oct. 5. All TV shows were down except those on The CW. Let’s take a look at what this means.

The CW was the only network to see upward ticks in the ratings. Stargirl was up by 25% in the demo and almost 5% in the total audience, while Supergirl was up 42% and 3% respectively.

For both of these shows, the live TV ratings aren’t even that much of a concern. Supergirl is ending after this season and Stargirl has already been renewed for a third season.

Another show that isn’t concerning is New Amsterdam. The show lost 30% in the demo and 18% in the total audience. This would usually have us worried, but it’s already been renewed for Season 5.

FBIs, The Voice, and more in the live TV ratings

The Voice did pull in the largest demo and total audience of the night. However, these figures were still down by 15% and 7% respectively. This won’t be a concern for the series just yet, but it is something the network will want to keep an eye on.

Bachelor in Paradise was the second-highest demo. It was the three-hour finale and yet it was down 9% in the demo and held steady in the total audience.

Some of the biggest disappointments of the night are in the scripted shows. The three FBIs were all down. With the main show down 26% in the demo and 13% in the audience, it’s not surprising that the other shows were down. It’s really only Friday nights where we see the upward ticks throughout the night.

FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted weren’t too bad, though. There’s a chance that all three shows will still be renewed this year.

La Brea and Our Kind of People are the shows we’re concerned about. La Brea dipped 22% in the demo and 23% in the total audience compared to its previous episode. These dips between pilot episode and second episode are common. What we’re looking for is the show stabilizing. The show is still the most popular show in the demo in the timeslot and scored the highest demo in all scripted shows throughout the night.

Our Kind of People is one show that is likely to see the chopping block if it doesn’t stabilize soon. The third episode was 11% down in the demo and 5% down in the total audience. These numbers are on par with Prodigal Son‘s second season, and we know how that show ended. Things aren’t good for the new FOX show.

The other FOX show to keep an eye on is The Resident. It was a huge episode to say goodbye to a main character and it was down 7% in the demo. The total audience did remain steady, though. Could we see the figures drop now that Nic is no longer around? Will fans stick around for Conrad, Devon, and the others?
