Ordinary Joe on NBC is a new series that entered our screens for Fall TV 2021, but it’s not getting the attention it deserves. Here’s what Ordinary Joe is about and why you’re missing out.

The new NBC series Ordinary Joe is a Fall TV 2021 favorite! From the trailer, we knew it was going to be an emotional journey for the main character, Joe Kimbrough (James Wolk). But not everyone has checked it out. Luckily, if this is you, you’re only three episodes behind.

Along with Wolk, Ordinary Joe stars Natalie Martinez as Amy Kindelán, Elizabeth Lail as Jenny Banks, and Charlie Barnett as Eric Payne, this is the main cast.

Ordinary Joe premise: What is the new show about?

The NBC drama series follows Joe Kimbreau through three different life paths. The concept of the series is showing audiences the “what if” in life we often wonder about, instead of just asking it.

Ordinary Joe shows us how impactful one choice we make can be. In Joe’s story, he is faced with three choices after his graduation:

  • Go to a family dinner
  • Meet with his college on-and-off girlfriend, Jenny (who has something important to tell him)
  • Meet up with Amy, a potential new love interest

Audiences don’t need to wonder what may have happened, we see Joe go through all three of these choices as we catch up with Joe 10 years after.

The Joe that went to a family dinner is now a successful police officer (and a hero), but he’s single and struggling to find himself and what he wants.

Then we have the Joe that went to see his Jenny after graduation. Jenny tells him she’s pregnant and the two are now married, but not very happy. Finally, the Joe that meets with Amy after graduation is now married to Amy, and Joe’s a wealthy artist, but dealing with several problems.

Audiences love parts of some storylines, hate others. Do you have a favorite life path of Joe’s?

Just when you think you know which life path is working out best for him, a new problem surfaces, keeping us on our toes. Finally, you’ll enjoy Wolk’s performance as Joe, who is able to portray three slightly different personalities without making us feel like it’s not the same Joe on the inside.
