Doctor Who Season 13 will be here before you know it. During its NYCC 2021 panel, we learned it’s going to premiere in time for Halloween.

There is one date to get in your diary. It’s all about Sunday, Oct. 31. The Doctor Who Season 13 premiere will air that day, with new episodes coming weekly after that.

The premiere is on BBC One, BBC America, and BBC iPlayer. It doesn’t matter where you are in North America or the UK, you’ll be able to get access to the episodes, and you’re going to want to check it out.

As well as the premiere date, we got a teaser of what to expect. It certainly has a “Don’t Blink” feel to it.

Doctor Who Season 13 brings us The Flux

The title for Doctor Who Season 13 is Doctor Who: Flux. We’re getting a season-long storyline for Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor, facing some of the biggest threats The Doctor has ever faced. This is only the second time in the show’s history that we’ve had one long arc across the full season. Yes, there have been times that one particular element of the story has come back up, but this season is going to be more like one long six-episode movie.

The Flux will bring the Weeping Angels, the Sontarans, and something known as the Ravages. The Doctor is telling us through a recorded message, and there’s certainly a lot of fear in her voice. It’s not often the Doctor is panicked, so we know that this is something major.

Her companions Yas and newbie Dan Lewis, played by John Bishop, are behind her. They’re doing something at the TARDIS’s control panel, but we can’t see what that is. Whatever it is, they’re panicked, too.

The downside is that there are only going to be six episodes in Doctor Who Season 13. The season finale will air on Sunday, Dec. 5. Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall are stepping down, but there will be three specials throughout 2022 first and then we’ll see a new actor take over the lead role.

There were going to be eight episodes to the season. Things changed due to the pandemic, and now there are six episodes with two specials already filmed. There will be one more special added before seeing Whittaker’s Doctor regenerate.
