Just in time for spooky season, Syfy and the USA Network, are giving horror fans a dark comedy slasher whose villain we are all (more or less) familiar with, Chucky. What is the Chucky TV series about? Can you stream it online? Here’s everything you need to know about everyone’s favorite evil doll.

Chucky is the center character and villain in the Child’s Play horror slasher movies. A horror movie franchise that has one too many installments, eight, to be exact. In order of release, the movies are:

  • Child’s Play, Nov. 9, 1988
  • Child’s Play 2, Nov. 9, 1990
  • Child’s Play 3, Aug. 30, 1991
  • Bride of Chucky, Oct. 16, 1998
  • Seed of Chucky, Nov. 11, 2004
  • Curse of Chucky, Sept. 24, 2013
  • Cult of Chucky, Oct. 3, 2017
  • Child’s Play, June 21, 2019 (a remake/reboot of the franchise)

For details about where you can stream these movies, check HERE. Now, the movies may be called Child’s Play, but the villain is so popular, we all just really know the movies as “Chucky.” That said, it’s easy to assume that Syfy’s Chucky is about the doll and his murders. But what will audiences follow, exactly? What is Chucky up to now?

What is the Chucky TV series about?

The series is a sequel to the film Cult of Chucky. If you haven’t seen it, you may want to, but you don’t really need to. As long as you are familiar with the story and some of the movies, you’ll be fine watching the TV series. I, for example, never got to watch Cult of Chucky, but have seen most of the other movies.

Audiences will follow Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), a socially awkward and quiet kid living with his dad, Lucas (Devon Sawa), who won’t accept that Jake is gay. At a yard sale, Jake finds Chucky, who fans know is a doll possessed by the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (voiced here by Brad Dourif).

Chucky wastes no time unleashing his anger, but not on Jake. On the contrary, it’s hard to believe, but it seems Chucky likes Jake and sympathizes with his situation. Let’s not get carried away and cheer on Chucky so soon, though. We all know he is a master manipulator.

Where can you stream the Chucky TV series premiere online?

Fans can watch the Chucky TV series premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 10 p.m. on the USA Network and on Syfy. That’s right, it’ll play on both networks. New episodes will air in these networks each Tuesday night. And if you want to watch Cult of Chucky, stay tuned to Syfy as its playing the Child’s Play movies ahead of the premiere (and after).

Peacock also has the movie Cult of Chucky available to stream.
