Tuesday TV ratings: La Brea down, New Amsterdam up [Oct. 12, 2021]
Everything aired new on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Just how did the live TV ratings look for the big five broadcast networks, and what do the ratings mean?
Tuesday night was full of new content. Even though Bachelor in Paradise Season 7 aired its finale the previous week, ABC still found ways to fill in the gaps. One of those was a Dancing with the Stars one-off episode for the night.
The episode didn’t perform all that well, though. It was down 13% in the demo and 11% in the audience. It could be that the episode aired on a non-traditional night so not everyone paid attention to that. We’ll have to see how things are on Monday.
The last hour was A Night in the Academy Museum. It pulled in a respectable 2.18 million viewers and a 0.3 demo for a special. ABC won’t be worried about that.
The Voice was also down in both the demo and the audience. In fact, the audience dipped below FBI‘s audience, so it couldn’t claim the top spot. It did claim the top spot in the demo, though. So far, there’s nothing to worry about, but this really is a sign something needs to change within the show to avoid more dips.
FBIs mixed, La Brea down, New Amsterdam up in the live TV ratings
Speaking of FBI, it was up in the demo by 18%. It took the top spot in the demo out of all the scripted shows and was second behind The Voice. It’s audience did take the top spot, despite a 4% dip.
FBI: International also saw an upward tick in the demo just off the back of it getting a full-season order. The audience saw a 5% dip, but nothing to worry about yet. FBI: Most Wanted is something we’re keeping a close eye on as the show dipped 10% in the audience. We need to see this stabilize soon. The benefit is all three FBI shows are the top in their timeslots out of scripted content.
La Brea continues to fall, losing 6% in the demo and 1% in the audience. This isn’t anything to worry about yet and suggests the audience may be stabilizing. Considering the demo is the top for the timeslot, there’s a chance that the series will be renewed.
The one new show we’re expecting canceled is Our Kind of People on FOX. While the demo remained steady, the audience fell another 6.5%. This came off the back of The Resident, which also fell in both the demo and audience. Will FOX change its entire Tuesday lineup next season?
New Amsterdam performed well. It was up 33% in the demo and 16% in the audience. While not the best numbers of the night overall, it’s a good sign that NBC is finding its audience again. It comes off the back of positive news for Ordinary Joe on Monday.
