How many episodes of Riverdale are there?
By Sabrina Reed
Riverdale has been delighting, frustrating, scandalizing, and confusing viewers since the former teen drama made its premiere on The CW in 2017. The series takes the beloved Archie Comics characters and drops them into a universe full of the mystery, murder, music, and the macabre.
Fans of the show have watched the main characters sleuth and crime fight there way through high school and, after a time jump, return to the town with pep full of ennui and more trauma then they know what to do with initially.
The series is the kind of mystery drama that’s also a soap opera involving love triangles, romantic misunderstandings, melodrama, and plot beats that don’t always match up with the story that was being told before the show jumped the shark.
Still, it’s found quite the fan base and audience. Riverdale, whether you love it or hate it, has arguably become the face of The CW since its debut. If you haven’t watched the show yet, are looking to jump back in, or are curious due to the upcoming crossover with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, here’s how many episodes are in the show thus far.
Riverdale episode count
Riverdale has a current total of 95 episodes. As the show has been renewed for a sixth season set to debut later in the fall, that number will be increasing shortly. Each episode is between 43-45 minutes in length due to the show’s status as a network TV series.
The episode count broken down by season:
- Season 1: 13 episodes
- Season 2: 22 episodes
- Season 3: 22 episodes
- Season 4: 19 episodes
- Season 5: 19 episodes
Riverdale season 1 synopsis

Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, Cheryl Blossom, and Riverdale’s newest arrival Veronica Lodge all get dragged into the horrific mystery surrounding Jason’s death. In-between school work, cheerleading, football, and the occasional musical moment, these teens will be discovering just how weird and terrifying the town with pep can be.
