Is Buck leaving 9-1-1?

Buck looked like he was taking on a mentor role, but then it turned out he was going to put in for a transfer. Is Buck leaving 9-1-1?

The promo for 9-1-1 Season 5, Episode 5 got us excited. Buck was taking on a mentor role, giving us a look at how much the character has grown throughout the seasons.

Then he shared the real reason he’d been pushing the probie so hard. He was looking for a replacement. His replacement.

Buck shared that he was putting in for a transfer. Wait, what?!?!

Why did Buck want to leave the 118 on 9-1-1?

Buck mentioned how he felt the tension in the firehouse since Chimney left. He felt the only want to get rid of that tension was to leave. It turns out he was just manifesting his own thoughts and fears.

Bobby made it clear that it wasn’t Buck who pushed Chimney away. Bobby had encouraged Chimney to take time off to find Maddie. Eddie also supported the idea, and Hen even offered to go with him but he turned her down. It had nothing to do with Buck keeping Maddie’s secret at all.

Is Buck leaving 9-1-1?

So, is Buck still putting in for a transfer? Bobby isn’t going to allow that. After seeing Jennifer Love Hewitt and Kenneth Choi leave the series (albeit temporarily hopefully!), we won’t see Oliver Stark step away too. Buck is sticking around.

There’s hope that this storyline isn’t going to last for too long. Maddie called Buck at the end of the episode to ask why Chimney was in another state. Chimney had sent Maddie an email to show their daughter crawling. At the end of the call, there was the sound of bells. Buck thinks he knows where Maddie has gone.

Will Buck head out to Chimney to get Maddie back? Could he just pass on the message to Chimney to get Maddie back? We’ll have to find out when the show returns in two weeks.
