One of the biggest spectacles of the year is finally hitting theaters this weekend. Dune has been on my most anticipated list the moment I found out that it was coming out. The big question of the week is, will it be available on the small screen, big screen, or both? Here’s what you need to know about the Dune movie.
Denis Villeneuve is one of the most artistic directors of this generation. If you take a look at his filmography, he has never been afraid of taking a risk. Nobody can deny this man’s vision for film, from his critically loved movie in Arrival to my favorite Prisoners or his most recent turn in Blade Runner 2049.
Dune is based on a novel that some have said is an un-adaptable book. While early reviews have stated that Denis has knocked this one out of the ballpark, again. One thing that intrigues me is how some will handle the long run time of the movie. Is that something that concerns you when watching a movie? Let us know?
The cast from top to bottom is INSANE. From Timothée Chalamet to Oscar Isaac to Zendaya to Rebecca Ferguson, the list goes on and on and on. The cast alone has our excitement at a ten! I cant’ wait to see how each character plays out.
Can you stream Dune online from home?
Yes, you absolutely can. Warner Brothers announced at the end of last year that their entire 2021 movie slate would be available on HBO Max at the same time it is released in theaters. While some thought they may make a change closer to the end of the year, they have stood their ground and you will be able to watch it at home.
The box office numbers will be essential for this movie because there are several books the film is based on and Denis has already stated that he has the sequel already written. Reportedly WB has promised a sequel regardless of what happens at the box office, but I will believe that when I see it.
Do you plan on catching the movie in theaters? Let us know.
Dune hits theaters and HBO Max on Oct. 22, 2021.
