Breaking down the A Discovery of Witches epic season 3 trailer

Season 2 of A Discovery of Witches was dramatic and heart pounding, bringing back the characters we loved and giving us a host of new characters to love. The ending left us wanting more and it seems our wishes are about to be answered.

The supernatural drama, which airs on Sky TV in the UK and is available on Sundance Now and AMC+ for streaming, will soon return for its third and final season. Not surprising given that it is based off of a trilogy of books by Deborah Harkness, but it will be hard to say goodbye.

It was teased after the Season 2 finale that the show will return in 2022. And now we have a first look trailer and a tease of exactly what month we can expect to join Matthew and Diana in their adventures again.

What happens in the A Discovery of Witches season 3 trailer

Season 2 found Matthew and Diana separated from most of their friends and family as they traveled through Elizabethan London. They did get to meet the past versions of Ysabeau and Philippe however, as well as introduce the fan favorite character of Gallowglass.

Now in Season 3 it seems Matthew and Diana have returned to their own time and their family and friends. Having broken the covenant, and with Peter Knox having killed Diana’s aunt Emily, the stakes are higher than ever.

Not to mention that, as shown in the trailer, Diana is very pregnant. With twins! The stakes are high and the Congregation is coming for Matthew and Diana and their unborn children.

In order to protect her children and the life of all creatures Diana is ready and willing to start a revolution and is trying to piece back together the Book of Life. She may not know the full depths of her power yet, but I think by this point we can all trust that in the end Diana will find a way.

The trailer looks truly epic, showcasing some awesome displays of Diana’s power, Matthew getting into a brawl, Diana piecing the Book of Life back together, Emily’s funeral and more. We even got a glimpse of Matthew cradling a very pregnant Diana. And let’s be honest, half the reason we all love this show is the romance between Matthew and Diana.

Along with the amazing trailer, we also have a more specific tease of when we can expect our favorite supernatural drama to return. It was previously revealed that the show will return in 2022, but now we know that it will return in January! So not long to wait now!
