Ladies and gentlemen, the weekend is here. You have made it through another week living through a pandemic and now you’re looking for the best new Netflix movies and shows. We want to help you narrow down your list with a few of our picks that were released this week.

This week’s list has a few movies and, of course, there is at least one entry to help fulfill your spooky season needs. There are also a few shows, from animation to reality, to the return of a scripted series that received great reviews after its first season.

Before we get into this week’s list we’ll remind you of a few key titles you’ll want to catch up on if you missed last week‘s entry. First, is the fan-favorite series You. I’m still working through this one myself as this season has not lived up to the first two thus far, but I’m told the season finishes strong. You should also be sure to add Noomi Rapace’s new movie The Trip to your queue. That is if you’re up for a deadly thriller about a married couple who has each cooked up a plan to kill the other while on vacation.

Both of those are strong options, but now it’s time for the new content.

Best show this week

The best show coming to Netflix this week has to be Locke & Key. The show was nominated for several awards in its first season and is highly rated on both IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. The cast features Darby Stanchfield (Scandal), Connor Jessup (American Crime), and Jackson Robert Scott (It and It Chapter Two).

Locke and Key is a fantasy series that follows the Locke siblings and their mother after they move into a new home after their father’s mysterious death. They soon discover that the home, named “Keyhouse,” is full of magical keys that may unlock the secrets of their father’s death. Of course, things do not go easily for them as a demon is awakened and begins its pursuit of the keys. This is certainly a show to watch during the spooky season.

Best movie this week

For the best movie this week, I’m going to defer to the viewers. Currently, Night Teeth is number seven among the most popular Netflix movies and shows. Among just movies, Night Teeth is number one. Starring Debby Ryan (Insatiable) and Lucy Fry (Bright) as vampires who hire a chauffeur to take them party hopping. Initially, he doesn’t know they’re vampires but once they reveal who they are the driver must find a way to make sure he survives the night.

This wouldn’t normally be a movie I’d look twice at but it certainly fits the bill for a mindless watch during this time of year. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun and the setup could also be ripe for good tension.
