New movies in theaters and streaming to watch this weekend: October 22, 2021
By Ricky Valero
I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky and I also believe that Friday is here and we are ready for one of the biggest movies of the year! With that, we share the best new movies in theaters and films available on streaming services that you don’t want to miss.
We never want you to be late to the party for any of the upcoming films, so weekly we share a list of the best new movies that are coming out, so you can plan your weekend accordingly.
The most anticipated movie of the year for so many people (myself included) is hitting theaters and well HBO Max. Some have said it is the sexist movie of 2021 as we have the likes of Oscar Isaac, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa in the film. However, Netflix is taking on the competition with their Megan Fox and Sydney Sweeney vampire movie. I will let you guys decided on which wins the competition this weekend.
Families are welcoming a fresh unique non-franchise animated movie to the fold this week with Ron’s Gone Wrong. It’ll be interesting to see how this one does in theaters without being back by the streaming platform.
We have a socially awkward middle-schooler, a massive sci-fi adventure and vampires dropping this week.
New movies to watch this weekend in theaters
- Dune
- Ron’s Gone Wrong
- The French Dispatch (Limited Release)
Ron’s Gone Wrong trailer blew me away because it looks like an outright blast. I am not the biggest animated movie fan, but I can’t see how this one won’t be great with a cast like Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, and Ed Helms.
New movies to watch this weekend on streaming
- Dune (HBO Max)
- Night Teeth (Netflix)
- Minari (Showtime)
We have heard the raves, but it is finally time for us at home to find out if Dune is as good as they say. Luckily, for those who aren’t ready to hit the theater quite yet, Dune is releasing simultaneously on HBO Max. Denis Villeneuve is one of my favorite filmmakers, so here is to hope that we are all rantings and raving about how great this movie is.
What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
