The highly anticipated limited series Love and Death is getting a lot of attention as the cast continues to grow and filming gets underway. The new HBO Max series from David E. Kelley and Nicole Kidman is slated to arrive on the streaming service in 2022.

True crime documentaries are hugely popular, so it’s not surprising that the story of a churchgoing woman who kills her friend and fellow parishioner with an ax captured the headlines in 1980 when the murder took place.

Elizabeth Olson (WandaVision) plays Candy Montgomery, with Lily Rabe (American Horror Story) starring as ill-fated Betty Gore.

Love and Death is coming to HBO Max in 2022

The new limited series is based on the book Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs and a series of articles from Texas Monthly, specifically “Love & Death in Silicon Prairie, Part I & II.”

The story captured headlines and rocked the community and the country as people wondered what had to happen for a woman to kill her fellow parishioner. The small town was thrust into the spotlight with the murder, which left everyone shocked by what happened in their midst.

Deadline recently revealed a first look at Olson as Candy Montgomery. Olson seems to be channeling her performance in WandaVision as she rocks her 1980s finery.

Rounding out the cast is a talented group of actors including Krysten Ritter, Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, Olivia Applegate, Tom Pelphrey, Brian d’Arcy James, Mackenzie Astin, Adam Cropper, Bruce McGill, Jesse Plemons and Patrick Fugit.
