Insecure season 5 just dropped its third episode tonight titled “Pressure, Okay?!” and viewers were taken on a pretty emotional rollercoaster ride trying to figure out Lawrence and Condola’s rocky co-parenting relationship.

Though the episode had its moments that really shocked us, we were also given some moments of light laughter as some of Insecure‘s best side characters cracked a few jokes here and there to relieve the tension.

Spoilers ahead for Insecure season 5 episode 3.

However, we could only imagine how surprised viewers were when they saw that one of those side characters was someone who is extremely well-loved in the entertainment industry and someone who, coincidentally, manifested a role for herself in the HBO original series.

That’s right, we’re talking about none other than actress Keke Palmer!

Who does Keke Palmer play in Insecure season 5?

Keke Palmer played the role of Condola’s sister, Kyra, who is protective, caring and would do anything to ensure that her nephew is raised in a stable and loving environment–away from Lawrence.

Kyra’s disdain towards Lawrence was immediately seen when her nephew, Elijah Mustafa, was born, and she couldn’t help but hide her facial expressions at the late arrival of the newborn’s father.

Shortly after Elijah Mustafa’s birth at his baptism/baby dedication, Kyra took yet another jab at Lawrence, expressing how ironic it was that he was tired despite not being the one who has to stay up at night taking care of a newborn. And her dislike certainly grew stronger after Lawrence, once again, proved to be a flaky father.

After Lawrence canceled on taking Elijah Mustafa for a week so that Condola could have a break, Kyra finally expressed how much she disapproved of Lawrence’s in-and-out behavior to her sister, practically begging for Condola to stop putting up with his absent antics.

This was the last time we saw Kyra in episode 3, but it’s safe to say that fans are already loving this character, as she seems to be the only one who won’t hesitate to push Lawrence to get it together.

Will we get to see Keke Palmer in another episode in Insecure season 5? And if we do, will her character and Lawrence ever see eye-to-eye? We’ll have to keep tuning in to find out!
