The holidays are near but not quite here and that means there will be a lot of new content arriving in the coming weeks. This weekend is jam-packed with new content and Netflix will be housing a lot of it. That’s why we’re back once again with our list of the best new Netflix movies and shows you should be looking out for.

This week’s list is diverse as always. We offer you a comedy special, an insane documentary, an animated entry, and several movie options. The long-awaited live-action Cowboy Bebop series arrived this weekend along with the follow-up to the insanity that was the original Tiger King docuseries. No matter what you’re looking for you’re likely to find something here.

Last week we did not bring you a new list but that doesn’t mean there was nothing worth checking for. Films like Ruth Negga’s Passing and the star-studded Red Notice both arrived last week and if you missed them you may want to give them a look. Passing currently has a 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and, while the ratings aren’t there for Red Notice, it’s hard to ignore a film with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot.

Now let’s get to this week’s new releases.

Best show this week

Between Parasite and Squid Game, South Korean movies and shows are very popular right now so I’m offering you Hellbound as your next South Korean watch. Hellbound is a six-part crime/fantasy drama series where death angels appear one day to claim souls for hell. While some accept this as a religious experience, others are not so sure and decide to investigate what is happening.

This series sounds and looks intense and has been getting rave reviews thus far. I know I’m personally adding it to my watchlist.

Best movie this week

The best movie of the week could have gone to several of the different options that were released this week but I’m going to stick with tick, tick… Boom! Marking the directorial debut of Lin-Manuel Miranda, tick, tick… Boom! is an excellent option among the many Netflix movies that have arrived this week. With a cast including Andrew Garfield, Alexandra Shipp, and Vanessa Hudgens there are plenty of reasons to check-in.

Garfield plays a theater composer who is approaching 30 and contemplating life. There’s something about approaching 30 that makes you feel like you’re supposed to have your life figured out and he’s feeling all of those pressures. Romantic pressures, financial pressures, and the pressures from the world as well make Garfield’s character question if he’s on the right path. The biographical musical currently has ratings of 87% from critics and 95% from audiences on Rotten tomatoes. This is hard to beat when it comes to Netflix movies.
