As the year comes to a close, we were bound to hear about some new series slated to release in the new year, however, we were blessed with a great surprise to know that Bel-Air was one of those titles!
The series, which serves as a reboot for the 1990 American sitcom series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, just got some new content and updates, all of which we absolutely have to tell you all about.
Check it out below!
Bel-Air release date
Though we weren’t given an official release date for Bel-Air, the upcoming series was confirmed to be coming to Peacock in 2022!
We expect to have a date much closer to the new year! (Fingers crossed!)
The show not only has a brand new feel but also has a brand new cast full of actors and actresses who you are going to be delighted to see on your screens very soon. The cast of Bel-Air is as followed:
- Jabari Banks as Will
- Adrian Holmes as Phillip Banks
- Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks
- Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks
- Coco Jones as Hillary Banks
- Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks
- Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey
- Jordan L. Jones as Jazz
- Simone Joy Jones as Lisa
And, if you were sad to not see some of your favorite OG castmates return to the reboot, you can rest assured in knowing that the original Fresh Prince most certainly is returning in some capacity for this upcoming release.
That’s right, King Richard actor Will Smith is an Executive Producer for the series so we’re definitely in for a great watch!
The official synopsis for the series has yet to be announced, but you can find the series description for the 2022 title below:
Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the 90’s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.
We will most definitely update you once we know a little more about the many nuances Will’s journey will have, but in the meantime, check out this awesome newly released teaser trailer for Bel-Air.
If the synopsis and cast weren’t enough to get you hyped, then this trailer is sure to do the trick.
Chills are already going down our spines as we hear those familiar words we first heard in 1990 and we hope you feel the same way!
Don’t forget to catch the series premiere of Bel-Air streaming only on Peacock in 2022!
