Fans of the HBO drama Euphoria are aware that Euphoria season 2 is happening, but we have been in the dark about details for a while. On Nov. 23, the updates we have long been waiting for arrived! When does the new season premiere, who will star in it, and what will it be about? Here’s what we know!

After its premiere on June 16, 2019, the teen drama, based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name, quickly became one of the most popular HBO shows. It didn’t come without harsh criticism, though!

Euphoria was praised by critics for its strong performances and storytelling, but some audiences had issues with the mature subjects and faced controversy for nudity and sexual content. Let’s just say the series is not for everyone.

This didn’t stop the network from giving Euphoria a quick renewal, just one month after its premiere. And now, over a year after its release, fans are eager to learn more about what’s to come and when.

When is Euphoria season 2 coming out?

According to TV Line, the upcoming season will premiere on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, on HBO Max. As Indie Wire reported earlier this year, creator and showrunner Sam Levinson was hoping to release the new season either late 2021 or early 2022. The source shared:

"“Levinson’s goal is to start filming in March [2021] and start rollout on completed episodes on HBO before the end of December.”"

We are all waiting on more details about this, too! Zendaya will be returning as Rue, that much we know, as well as Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Austin Abrams, and many others. TV Line also shares that Minka Kelly, Dominic Fike, and Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. will be joining the cast this season.
