Ghostbusters fans have a lot to feel nostalgic about this month. Ghostbusters: Afterlife hit theaters on November 19, 2021. In honor of the new movie, Hi-C is reviving one its most successful tie-in products of all time. As Food & Wine reports, Ecto Cooler is back (again) after initially being discontinued in 2001.

Hi-C Ecto Cooler first debuted to promote the animated series The Real Ghostbusters in 1987. The green, citrus-flavored drink—branded with a cartoon Slimer on the label—quickly outgrew its novelty status. Consumers loved the drink so much that it stayed on shelves for 14 years, outliving the series it was meant to promote by nearly a decade.

The beverage is back just in time for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and it’s available in a 12-ounce bottle for the first time. But you won’t be able to pick up this ghostly drink from your local store. Hi-C has produced a limited batch of bottles, and it’s distributing them to Twitter users who engage with the company on the site.

How to get Ecto Cooler in 2021

For a chance to get slimed, you can try tagging @DrinkHiC and @Ghostbusters in a Tweet explaining why you need some Ecto Cooler in your life.

This isn’t the first time Hi-C has brought the beloved product back from the dead. It returned to stores briefly in tandem with the release of the Ghostbusters reboot in 2016.

Unless Ghostbusters: Afterlife spawns a franchise of its own, this may be the last time the series haunts theaters for at least a generation. That means you may not be able to get your hands on Ecto Cooler for a while, unless you’re willing to spend thousands of dollars for an old carton on eBay.
